2022 has been quite the year for Wellhead Electrical Supplies (WES). Business is booming, our team is thriving, and we’ve sustained steady growth over the past 12 months. It’s been all systems go between implementing new sales strategies, returning to pre-covid levels of demand, and further establishing our solution-focused approach with customers.

The year’s end is a great time to reflect, share gratitude, and celebrate. Looking back on 2022, we couldn’t be prouder of the team here at WES. As they say, teamwork makes the dream work, and we wouldn’t have achieved our goals without their ongoing dedication. They really are a super bunch.

In June of this year, we heard from Sales Manager Dan Eager, who shared his reflection on the first six months of 2022. We hear again from Dan as he celebrates the year past and looks ahead for what’s in store in 2023.

When reflecting on 2022, what are you most proud of?

Where do I begin? It’s been a real year of stability for WES. Following an unpredictable two years due to COVID, it’s great to get back to business as usual. Stability is echoed in both turnover and team morale. We’ve seen a return to post-covid levels of demand (and some!) and an increase in performance on previous years.

Most of all, I’m proud of how the WES team has developed over the past 12 months. It’s thanks to their ongoing consistency, enthusiasm, and zest that we continue to achieve our targets month on month. Our relationship and solutions-focused approach are what sets us aside. It’s what customers enjoy the most about working with WES, and our team exemplify this at every opportunity. Seeing them flourish means a lot to me, and when reflecting on 2022, it’s clear how our team has blossomed.

What have you learnt this year, and how will this impact your strategy in 2023?

Three words: empathy, communication, and consistency. I first entered the role of Sales Manager at WES in August 2021, and I haven’t stopped learning since. I’ve come to understand that:

  • Communication is key: Never underestimate the power of communication. Whether that’s with your team or customers, it’s the cornerstone of building lasting and meaningful relationships. People want to be heard, and in turn, they want to be communicated with. Finding a balance between a professional and personable approach can be challenging, but as the saying goes, ‘treat people how you would like to be treated’.
  • Empathy goes a long way: We all have challenges that extend beyond the four walls of the workplace. If 2022 has taught me anything, it’s that empathy within the professional environment goes a very long way. We’re all human, and by listening and asking the right questions, you can learn a lot about your coworkers and clients.
  • Consistency is unmatched: Make a plan and stick to it. This isn’t always realistic, but to achieve harmony and reach your goals, it’s imperative to understand how you will get there. In April, we implemented a new sales strategy which has been a focal point throughout the latter end of the year. It’s provided clarity and consistency in our approach, and the results speak for themselves.

By harnessing the above and continuing to embrace to new ways of working to support our workforce, 2023 in bound to be off to a cracking start.

What can we expect from WES in the year ahead?

There’s plenty to be optimistic about. We have some exciting announcements coming in early 2023, but for now, that’s a Christmas cracker I’ll be keeping to myself! When looking ahead, there’s a range of initiatives on our radar.

Firstly, we’ll be further investing in our team’s ongoing development. By increasing their knowledge of our vast range of products, we hope to instil confidence that translates into finding our customers meaningful solutions. We’ll strive to further establish our network of partnerships within the marketplace. Our partners are key to our success and unlock potential when tapping into new industries and collaborations. Lastly, we aim to spend more face time with clients. Nothing beats catching up over a cuppa, and while virtual working is here to stay, we hope to reintroduce further face-to-face meetings.

I certainly can’t wait to see what 2023 holds for Wellhead Electrical Supplies, and I look forward to uncovering where our journey takes us next.
