Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Warehouse Operative to join our dynamic Warehouse/Logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. . This role is physically active and involves working within a fast-paced environment, supporting efficient supply chain operations. Prior warehouse experience will be advantageous but not essential. Familiarity of warehouse management systems and Sage ERP are also preferred however full training will be given to the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
· Receiving & Inspection: Offloading deliveries from vehicles, verifying shipments against paperwork, and checking for damaged or missing items.
· Stowing & Moving: Organising goods in the correct storage areas and moving stock using lifting gear, pallet jacks, or forklifts (if licensed).
· Order Picking & Packing: Collecting items for customer orders using handheld scanners, and securely packing them into crates or boxes for dispatch.
· Inventory Management: Conducting regular stock counts and updating warehouse management systems to maintain accurate records.
· Maintenance & Safety: Keeping work areas clean, following strict health and safety protocols, and reporting any faulty equipment
· Loading and unloading goods using forklifts and manual handling techniques
· Operating warehouse management system (WMS) to track stock movements and update records – Sage ERP
· Picking and packing orders accurately for dispatch
· Managing shipping and receiving documentation to ensure timely deliveries
· Assisting with materials handling, including moving heavy items safely
· Conducting regular stock counts and maintaining organisation within the warehouse
· Ensuring health and safety standards are adhered to at all times
Skills
· Physical Stamina: The ability to lift heavy objects (often up to 23kg), stand for long periods, and walk several miles per shift.
· Attention to Detail: Essential for accurately picking orders and identifying damaged stock.
· Reliability & Punctuality: Crucial for meeting strict delivery deadlines and productivity targets.
· Technical Literacy: Basic IT skills for using handheld scanners and warehouse software.
· Forklift Licence: A valid licence is essential
· Strong materials handling skills with the ability to lift heavy loads safely
· Knowledge of stock control, picking & packing, shipping & receiving procedures
· Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy environment
· Good organisational skills with attention to detail
· Physical fitness suitable for heavy lifting and extended periods of standing or walking
· Current Clean Driving License
