At WES, we don’t just supply products, we help our customers find the right way to do the job. For a permanent connection, that’s often a Hawke junction box: a protected, certified housing built to sit safely in a hazardous area. But when systems need linking quickly, or only for a phase of work, there’s a faster route, Hawke International connectors.
Where the time really goes
Linking systems offshore traditionally means running cables and having a skilled electrician terminate each one on site, usually into a junction box. It works, but it takes time and skilled hands, and it all happens offshore, where labour and time cost the most.
Take a drilling rig coming alongside a production platform. A bridge link goes across, cables are run between the two assets, and each one is terminated by a electrician before anything can be energised. That’s hours of skilled work before the systems are even talking to each other.
The plug-and-play difference
Plug-and-play connectors move that work to where it’s quicker and less costly to do. The cables are made up in advance, onshore, with plugs fitted to each end. Offshore, it’s simply a case of plugging them in.
The difference adds up fast:
- The skilled cabling work is done onshore, not offshore, cutting both cost and risk
- No waiting on an electrician offshore to terminate connections
- Systems energise far quicker, navigation lighting, communications and anything else that needs to sync can be linked in minutes rather than hours
It suits temporary links especially well, like that rig-alongside-platform bridge: plug in to synchronise the assets, then disconnect cleanly once the work’s done.
Supplied and ready to connect
A connector on its own is just a component. The value is in a complete assembly, matched, built and certified to specification, and that’s what we provide.
We take Hawke connectors from stock, match them to the correct cable, then assemble, test and certify the complete unit in-house. It’s the same workshop capability behind our Hawke junction boxes, where we’ve assembled and certified EExe enclosures for over 35 years.
Our expert team will help you choose the right method for the job, then supply it built to spec, on time, and ready to install.
