Sean previously worked in our warehouse and has now re-joined us in a Sales Support role. We sat down with Sean to discuss his journey, experiences, and what makes Wellhead Electrical Supplies a great place to grow a career.

 

Can you tell us a bit about your current role as Sales Support at Wellhead Electrical Supplies?

“My main responsibilities in the sales support role include assisting the sales team when they are busy. I handle everything from obtaining prices from suppliers to placing orders for clients. When the sales team does not require assistance, I take on orders of my own. Working in this role is an excellent way for someone who has never worked in sales before to learn quickly.”

 

What motivated you to return to Wellhead Electrical Supplies?

“When I knew I was moving back to Aberdeen, the first thing I did was contact Wellheads. I loved my time here before, so I was hoping there would be an opportunity for me again, and to my luck, there was!”

 

How has your experience working in the warehouse influenced your approach to your current role?

“Working in a warehouse role provides a solid foundation to transition to the office. I now understand what can be frustrating to the stores and the minor things that used to make work a little harder. I can now ensure these issues are avoided to help the warehouse and make their work easier too.”

 

What skills or knowledge from your previous role in the warehouse have been most beneficial in your transition to Sales Support?

“The attention to detail required in both roles is essential, as are teamwork and communication, problem-solving skills, and the understanding of operations and logistics. These have all given me a significant advantage in my new role.”

 

What are some of the key responsibilities in your Sales Support role?

“In my Sales Support role, I work directly with clients and suppliers, which requires strong communication and customer relationship management skills. This is a crucial part of my job. My experience in the warehouse, along with strategic thinking and product knowledge, has really helped me excel in these responsibilities.”

 

What do you believe sets Wellhead Electrical Supplies apart from other companies in the industry?

“I believe Wellheads’ company culture and values are what set it apart from others in the industry. With Wellheads having a smaller workforce than most all based locally, there is great communication among all staff and a strong team spirit.”

 

How do you see your career evolving at Wellhead Electrical Supplies in the future?

“I would like to become an Account Manager at Wellheads within the next year or so. Dealing directly with my own clients on a daily basis is something I believe I would shine in. My current role sets the foundation for this to become a reality.”

 

What advice would you give to someone considering a switch to a career in sales?

“If you’re thinking about moving to an office role, focus on improving your written communication and time management skills. In the warehouse, you might not interact with clients often, but in sales, it’s important to be professional in your emails. Efficient time management will help you prioritise tasks and be productive.”
